Identify by: bright reddish-copper color, no coating, no insulation, no solder. Bends without breaking. Dense and heavy for its size.
Usually from: stripped electrical wire, new plumbing pipe, fresh coil offcuts.
Identify by: copper coated in brown or dark-green tarnish, may have solder or brass fittings attached. ≥ 94% copper.
Usually from: stripped old plumbing, water heaters, AC condenser coils.
Identify by: light silver-grey, non-magnetic, looks “pushed” into a consistent shape (bar, profile). May be painted or anodized.
Usually from: window frames, storefront doors, blinds, vehicle trim.
Identify by: saturated yellow to gold color. Heavy. Non-magnetic. Makes a deep metallic ring when struck.
Usually from: faucets, plumbing valves, decorative fittings, spent ammunition shells.
Identify by: bright silver, doesn’t rust, usually weakly magnetic or non-magnetic. Heavier than aluminum. Smooth surface.
Usually from: commercial kitchen equipment, sinks, sheet metal, industrial piping, food processing.
Identify by: copper inside plastic or rubber jacket. Value depends on copper-to-insulation ratio (thicker cables typically have higher copper recovery).
Usually from: construction sites, electrical retrofits, facility decommissions.
Identify by: grey to black, often rusty, strongly magnetic. HMS 1 is ≥ 6mm thick; HMS 2 is thinner.
Usually from: structural steel, beams, fuel tanks, heavy equipment, vehicles.
Identify by: clean, unpainted, untreated steel offcuts from manufacturing shops. Thinner than 6mm, lengths under 60 cm.
Usually from: fabrication shops, weld shops, sheet metal production lines.
Identify by: dark grey, very heavy for its size, soft — can be scratched with a fingernail. Toxic, requires special handling.
Usually from: old car batteries, wheel weights, roofing lead, radiation shielding.
Identify by: bluish grey. Galvanized coatings on steel look “dusty.” Die-cast zinc has regular shapes and medium weight.
Usually from: die-cast auto parts, plumbing fittings, galvanized coating on construction steel.
Identify by: circuit boards, chips, hard drives, servers, networking gear. Value varies enormously by content (CPUs, RAM, drives are highest value).
Usually from: data centers, banks, hospitals, government IT refresh cycles. Requires full chain of custody.
Identify by: a mix of different metals, usually from a site clean-out. Value is determined by the proportion of high-value materials (copper, brass) in the mix.
Usually from: building demolition, full renovations, shop clean-outs. We pay against the ratio after sorting at our yard.
Start a quote request, attach photos of the material, and we’ll classify the grade and send a price via WhatsApp — usually within the hour during operating times.
